I've written about trees before, and for a long time have felt an affinity for them. Sometimes I think they are a higher form of being, mainly because they seem to consume very little and survive (mostly) by what comes their way.

And I think about my own mortality, and the idea of reincarnation and imagine myself becoming a tree, the cells of my body nurturing a tree, then the tree feeding birds, insects, people even. Maybe that is what is meant by "we are all one."

Anyway, I also think about those fairy tales that take place in the forest, and the idea of --was it a dream or was it real? At the very least, we need more trees on this hot planet.

Musically, Kyle Paas laid down the right foundation and Pete Remm's twinkling piano gave this the delicacy it needed.

For a few years I sang this song with a lot more lyrics, but right before recording I experimented with the version you hear...and that's all you need :)
Ainjel and her crew also faithfully gave this track the expansiveness it needed.
